Blower Removal

1. Shut the engine off and wait for all moving parts to
stop.
2. Release the latches and remove belt cover.
3. Loosen the bolt and nut securing the jack shaft
assembly to the adjusting bracket. Remove the drive
belt from the lower jack shaft pulley.
4. Release the latches securing the blower to cutting unit
and remove the blower and chute.
5. Insert the drive belt into the belt cover spring clips.
6. Reverse the procedure to reinstall blower assembly.

Replacing the Grass Deflector

WARNING
An uncovered discharge opening could allow the
lawn mower to throw objects in the operator's or
bystander's direction and result in serious injury.
Also, contact with the blade could occur.
• Never operate the lawn mower unless you install
a cover plate, a mulch plate, or a grass chute and
catcher.
• Make sure the grass deflector is in the down
position.
1. Place the spacer and spring between the grass deflector
brackets
(Figure
22). Place the left hand J hook end of
the spring behind the deck edge.
Note: Make sure the left hand J hook end of the
spring is installed behind the deck edge before installing
the bolt as shown in
Figure
22.

2. Install the bolt and nut. Place the right hand J hook end
of the spring around the grass deflector
Important: The grass deflector must be able to
lower down into position. Lift the deflector up to
test that it lowers into the full down position.
