Description of the DGT system units
DGT DISTRIBUTED GENERATION TRIP CONTROL SYSTEM – INSTRUCTION MANUAL
The entire round trip time from trip initiation at the substation into the DGT-U to
confirmation from the DGT-D occurs in under 150 milliseconds. The integrity of the Trip
Status state is maintained through the use of a 32-bit CRC calculation. The CRC prevents
the erroneous or malicious manipulation of the Trip Status so that only true data is acted
upon. Additional security precautions ensure that only authorized DGT-D devices are able
to wireless achieve association with a Utility's DGT-U and DGT-R devices, so that the
integrity of each DGT system is maintained.
The DGT-U, DGT-R and DGT-D, are completely packaged units that includes the
appropriate DGT radio transceiver, power supply, necessary input and output terminations,
antenna jumper cable and lightning protection contained in a weather resistant, pad
lockable enclosure. The only connections required are for primary power, the external
antenna cable, and wiring to the external equipment. All of these wiring connections are
made within the enclosure leaving no connections exposed to weather. DGT units are
designed to be installed in wall-mount or pole-mount configurations. All DGT components
are housed in a NEMA-approved enclosure measuring 13.75 inches high x 11.85 inches
wide x 6.5 inches deep (35cm x 30.1cm x 16.5cm).
There are internal variations in the components contained in a DGT-U, DGT-D or DGT-R.
These variations are shown in Figures 3 through 5
