6.5 Establishing an internet connection

NOTICE
• The storage system establishes a connection to the internet using the Ethernet line.
• The Ethernet line is connected to the building network router and the central unit of the
storage system.
„ Use a patch cable with the following properties as the Ethernet line:
• The patch cable is Cat 6.
• The patch cable is shielded.
„ Connect the patch cable to the central unit of the storage system (ETH [Router]).
„ Use the fixing ties from the accessories set to affix the attached cable to the power
„ Connect the other end of the patch cable to the building network router.
When the Ethernet cable has been connected correctly, the storage system will automatic-
ally establish a connection once it has been commissioned for the first time.
If the connection to the internet is not automatically established after commissioning:
„ Follow the instructions in section Troubleshooting [P. 84].

Communication lines too long
„ Ensure that the Modbus line and Ethernet line connected to the storage
system do not exceed a maximum length of 150 m.
Having a constant internet connection is one of the conditions of the warranty,
as sonnen can use this to access the storage system and monitor it for correct
function and import software updates.
„ Please inform the operator of the storage system that the internet con-
nection should not be interrupted for long periods of time.
