    About the Provided CD-ROM Handling Precautions • When handling the disk, make sure to avoid getting fi ngerprints or dirt on either side of it, and make sure not to scratch or damage the disk surface. • If the disk becomes dirty, clean it with a soft, dry cloth (like the one use for cleaning eyeglasses), wiping from the center of the disk in a motion that radiates outwards.

    Installing the Software Installation of the software that come with the printer is explained in this manual based on a computer running the English version of Windows XP, with English selected as the display language. Screens produced by other operating systems or when another display language is selected may be different from the screen shots shown here.

    Make sure that Adobe Reader or Acrobat Reader 5.0 or higher is installed on your computer (see the preceding section above). On the Windows Start menu, select Programs and then CASIO. Next, align the mouse pointer with MANUAL, and then click the name of the PDF fi le you want to view.

  • Page 16 Check the condition of the tape. • Make sure the tip of the tape is not bent. If it is, use scissors to cut off the bent part. Tape Pull out approximately 11 cm (4.3 in), measured from the center of the roll to the tip of the tape. Place the tape into the printer.

  • Page 18 Tape Precautions • Leaving the tape in the printer for long periods can cause unwanted marks on the tape, deterioration of adhesion, and even make proper printing impossible. Be sure to remove the tape and properly store it if you do not plan to print on it for a long time.

    Connecting the Printer to Your Computer Important! Be sure to install the printer software on your computer before connecting the printer to it. ■ To connect the printer to your computer After starting up Windows, connect the USB cable that comes with the printer to your computers USB port.

    User Maintenance Printed label quality will suffer if the printer head and/or rubber roller become dirty. A dirty tape cutter will result in poor cutting performance. Periodically perform the user maintenance steps below to clean the printer head, rubber roller, and tape cutter. Important! Use a cotton swab or some other similar soft object to clean the printer head, rubber roller, and tape cutter.
