Figure 14 shows another Cisco UCS B200-M3 instance in the test bed. In this instance the mezzanine
slot is populated with the port expander option. This passive device provides connectivity for the unused
ports on the Cisco UCS VIC 1240, essentially enabling the 40-Gb potential of the mLOM card. Beyond
the raw capacity improvements is the creation of two more automatic port channels between the FEX
and the server. This provides link resiliency at the adapter level and double the bandwidth available to
the system. (dual 2x10Gb).
