Cisco SOHO Series
and 800 Series
Cisco SOHO Series and 800 Series routers make it easy and affordable to extend
the power of Cisco IOS
telecommuters, providing superior security, reliability, and manageability at a low
cost. These routers deliver secure, multiuser access to the Internet or corporate
LAN through a single ADSL, ADSL-over-ISDN, G.SHDSL, ISDN, or serial
connections (up to 512 Kbps), or via an Ethernet WAN port connected to an
external broadband modem.
Benefits and Advantages
Business-Class Firewall
Cisco SOHO Series and 800 Series routers
provide the proven security features of Cisco
IOS Software, including stateful firewall
protection. A stateful firewall offers more
intelligent perimeter security by denying or
permitting WAN traffic based on a session's
state, so requests from users behind the
firewall can be received, while still preventing
unauthorized access.
Virtual Private Networking
Cisco 800 Series routers offer the added
protection of virtual private networks (VPNs),
which use data encryption and secure tunnels
to protect data as it travels from one site to
another, such as a branch office to corporate
headquarters. The Cisco 800 Series supports
IPSec 3DES, the most secure form of data
encryption. With the support of Cisco Easy
VPN Remote, setup, management, and
maintenance of VPN connections is simple using
Cisco 800 Series routers. Users who have PC
VPN software clients can use SOHO Series
routers, with support for IPSec passthrough, to
provide managed firewall protection for remote
offices or home office networks.

Simplified Installation and Set up
Cisco SOHO Series and 800 Series routers come
with color-coded cables and connectors, as well
as default configurations, so even users with
limited technical experience can quickly install
and activate them. The Cisco Router Web Setup
(CRWS) tool, a Web-based installation software
tool, makes configuration just as simple by
providing a graphical user interface (GUI) and
easy-to-follow instructions.
QoS
The Cisco 800 Series routers provide quality of
service (QoS) for traffic management. QoS can
give precedence to mission-critical applications
or delay-sensitive applications such as voice and
video traffic.
Integrated Support for VoIP
The Cisco 827-4V ADSL router provides four
integrated FXS ports to deliver toll-quality
voice for interoffice voice with remote offices
or teleworkers.
