Troubleshooting Procedures
To avoid risk of electrical shock, personal injury, or death, disconnect power to microwave oven and discharge the
high-voltage capacitor before servicing, unless testing requires power.
Symptom
Microwave oven fan motor
engages when power cord is
plugged in.
Microwave oven does not operate,
oven not in standby mode when
power cord is plugged in.
Microwave oven emitting a loud,
buzzing noise.
Microwave oven turntable motor
does not rotate.
Microwave oven stops during
cooking operation.
Microwave oven emits sparks
when cooking.
Microwave oven cooks unevenly.
Microwave oven turntable emits
noise when operating.

Checkout Procedure: Fuse

PROBLEM
Fuse blows immediately after door is closed.
Fuse blows immediately after door is opened.
Fuse blows when door is closed and START
key is touched.
NOTES: Replace blown fuse with 20 Amp fuse.
If the fuse is blown due to an improper switch operation, replace all interlock switches, PCB Ass'y and the
fuse simultaneously, and ensure they are connected properly.
Check for microwave energy leakage after replacing interlock and monitor switches.

1. Door sensing switch loose connector.
2. Door sensing switch loose wires.
1. Check input voltage.
2. Defective PCB assembly.
1. Fan and/or fan motor loose.
2. High voltage transformer loose.
3. High voltage diode shorted.
1. Turntable motor wiring loose/open.
2. Defective turntable motor.
1. Open or loose wiring of primary
interlock switch.
2. Open thermal (magnetron) cutout.
1. Metallic ware or cooking dishes
touching on the oven wall.
2. Ceramic ware trimmed with gold or
silver powder.
1. Uneven intensity of microwave due
to microwave characteristics.
2. Microwave cavity dirty.
1. Turntable motor loose.
2. Turntable motor defective.
Improper operation of the primary interlock and secondary
interlock switches and/or interlock monitor switch.
Malfunction of high voltage transformer; high voltage capacitor
including diode, magnetron, blower motor or circuit board.

Correction
Check connector and wiring of
door sensing switch.
Make sure house outlet works.
Replace PCB assembly.
Check fan and/or fan motor.
Check high voltage transformer.
Replace high voltage diode.
Check wiring of turntable motor.
Replace turntable motor.
Adjust door and latch switches.
Allow microwave oven to cool to
determine if magnetron TCO is
defective. Replace if necessary.
Do not use cookware with
metallic trimming or gold/silver
powder.
Cover food with plastic wrap or
cover food with a lid.
Clean microwave cavity.
Tighten screws securing motor.
Replace turntable motor.
