9. Blade inspection
and sharpening
CAUTION:
Always
wear heavy gloves to protect your hands when work-
ing with the cutter blade.
Blade inspection
1, Remove the cutter deck from the riding mower (see p. 44-45).
2. Inspect the blade for cracks, bends or signs of wear. If the blade is bent,
damaged or badly worn, replace it.
CAUTION:
Use only genuine
Honda replacement
blades or their equiva-
lent.
Blade sharpening
1. Remove the cutter deck (see p. 44-45),
and turn it upside down.
2. Remove the blade bolts and the blade.
CAUTION:
To avoid damaging
the blade, be sure to hold it securely
while
dressing
or resharpening
it.
3. Maintain
the original cutting
edge bevel when resharpening
or dressing
the blade. Leave a l/64
inch (0.4 mm) flat face on the cutting
edge; a
razorsharp
edge will chip easily, and will become dull quickly.
