Wireless Connection Troubleshooting

Please read this section if you cannot connect the camera and computer over a wireless
network or you are having trouble using the wireless networking function. See Troubleshooting
(p. 114) for other types of problems.

Connection Difficulty

Check the error message on the camera's LCD monitor if you are having difficulty getting the
camera to establish a wireless connection with the computer, and try the following solutions.
"Connection failed 1" Message
Cause
Failed to obtain an IP address from the DHCP server.
Solution 1:
Check the DHCP server settings to confirm that they are correct, or confirm
that there are a sufficient number of IP addresses that can be assigned. For
details, see the user guide for the wireless LAN router. Consult with your
network administrator if you have one.
Solution 2:
If your network is without a DHCP server, select the [Advanced Mode] and
configure the IP address as described below.
How to Display the IP Address Configuration Screen
Perform steps 1-7 in Registering the Target Device with the Camera (p. 78) and
continue with the procedures below.
Select [Advanced Mode]
and click [Next]
Click [Set IP Address]
