Cisco MDS 9000 Family Configuration Guide

10-22.
The install ssi command does not support files located on SSM modflash.
If the SSM is configured for Layer 3 Fibre Channel switching or Intelligent Storage Services, a
warning will be displayed at the command prompt indicating that the operation will disrupt
traffic and you will be asked if you wish to continue.
If you do not save this configuration, it is lost on a switch reboot. In addition, SSM stays in the
power-down state if your switch is running Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 2.1(1a) or earlier, or
comes up in Fibre Channel switching mode if your switch is running Cisco MDS SAN-OS
Release 2.1(2) or later. You must perform this procedure again to recover the SSI image boot
variable configuration.
