Attach the power cable to the rear panel of the ASA.
Connect the power cable to an electrical outlet.
Power on the ASA.
Check the Power LED on the front of the ASA; if it is solid green, the device is
powered on.
Check the Status LED on the front of the adaptive security appliance; once it is
solid green, the system has passed power-up diagnostics.
The illustration in this section shows the ASA 5540. The ASA 5510 and ASA
5520 chassis are identical, containing the same back panel features and indicators.
Connect a management PC to the Management 0/0 interface for use with the
Adaptive Security Device Manager (ASDM).You can connect it directly with an
Ethernet cable, or connect the PC and the ASA to the same management network.
Make sure the PC is configured to obtain an IP address using DHCP.
