Crankshaft pin outside diameter
35.969–35.984 mm
(1.4161–1.4167 in)
4. Measure:
• Crankshaft pin to connecting rod clearance
Out of specification → Replace the crank-
shaft or connecting rod.

0.016–0.046 mm
(0.0006–0.0018 in)
a. Clean the crankshaft pin, and inside of the
connecting rod halves.
b. Put a piece of Plastigauge® "1" on the
crankshaft pin.
c. Lubricate the connecting rod cap bolts
threads with engine oil.
d. Assemble the connecting rod "1" and con-
necting rod cap "2".
NOTICE
Do not allow the connecting rod and crank-
shaft to rotate until the clearance measure-
ment has been completed.

CRANKSHAFT AND PISTON
e. Tighten the connecting rod cap bolts to the
specified torque in two stages.
Connecting rod cap bolt
20 N·m (2.0 kgf·m, 15 lb·ft)
f. Remove the connecting rod and connect-
ing rod cap.
g. Measure the compressed Plastigauge®
width "a".

CHECKING THE BALANCER

1. Check:
• Balancer
Scratches/wear/damage → Replace the bal-
ancer.
INSTALLING THE CONNECTING ROD AND
PISTON
1. Install:
• Oil seal "1"
(into the crankcase "2")

0.5–1.5 mm (0.02–0.06 in)
