Turn tile power off and unplug the AC power
cord.
The program that starts first has priority and tile
second program starts recording uuly after the
first prugranl has finished. If tile programs start
at tile same time. the program listed first in the
menu hits priority (page 77).
The ® indicator flashes after timer recording is
set.
Check that the s:d'ct_ tab has not been rmnoved.
The SYNCHRO REC indicator flashes after
Synchro-Recording is set.
Check that the s:d'ct_ tab has nut beret rmnoved.
Display
Menus or displays do not appear on the
screen.
While the recorder is reading disc information.
the Systmn Menu. TOOLS menu. or information
display will nut appear.
"- -:- -" appears in the front panel display.
Set tilechx'k again (page 94).
The ® indicator is flashing.
The disc does not have enough space.
Insert a recordable disc or a tape with its safety
tab in place inside the recurder.
Remote control
The remote does not function.
Batteries are weak.
The remote is tou far frum the recorder.
The remote's manufacturer code returned to the
def:mlt setting when you replaced the batteries.
Reset the code (page 19).
Turn on the recorder.
The remote is not puioted at the remote sensor on
the recorder.
Different command modes are set lk_rtile
recorder and remote. Set tile
same
comulaud
mode (page 24).
Slide tile TV/DVD.VIDEO switch to
DVD.VIDEO (page 20).
Other Sonyequipment responds t otheremote.
Tile s:mm comm:md mude is set for both the
Sony DVD equipment. Set a different cummand
mode for the recorder (page 24).
Others
Therecorder d oesnotoperateproperly.
Restart the recorder. Press down |/(_) un the
recorder l\_r more than ten seconds until "SONY
DVD" appears in the front panel display.
When static electricity, etc.. causes tile recorder
to operate abnormally, turn off tile recurder and
wait until the clock appears in tile frunt panel
display. Then, unplug the recorder and after
leaving it off for a while, plug it in again.
The disc tray does not open after you press
OPEN/CLOSE.
It ma>take a few secunds for tiledisc tray to
open after you have recorded or edited a disc.
This is because the recorder is adding disc data tu
the disc.
The disc tray does not open and "TRAY
LOCKED" appears in the front panel display.
Contact your Suuy dealer or hlcal authorized
Sony service facility.
"CANNOT RECORD B ECAUSE OFHIGH TEMP."
appears in the front panel display.
Check that the vent uu the rear of the recorder is
not blocked. Then. turn off tile recorder, wait
until the cluck appears in tile front panel display,
and disconnect the AC power cord. Leave the
recorder uff for a while, then re-ctmuect the
power cord. and press I/(_ on tile recorder.
"CHILD LOCK" appears in the front panel
display.
Tile recorder is locked. Cancel tile Child Lock
(page 37).
ControlbyAVmouse isnotpossible.
Some satellite receivers may not support AV
uluuse.
