The SECTEL 1500 incorporates many features and functions that provide both
flexibility and ease of operation. This chapter describes the message display,
function keys, memory dial keys with the AUTOVON/TVSN precedence keys,
the keypad and the multiline keys on the Universal Multiline Model.
External Interface describes the terminal's connectors, battery compartment
and the power supply.

D I S P L A Y
The message display (Figure 2-1) shows keypad entries, messages and
prompts seen by the user in normal operation of the SECTEL 1500. The
message display consists of an alphanumeric portion and annunciators.

The alphanumeric portion, located in the center of the message display,
consists of two rows of 16 characters each. (The alphanumeric portion of
Figure 2-1 shows letters and the numbers and symbols that are used.)
Appendix Aprovides alisting of display messages.
The following annunciators, located on both sides of the alphanumeric portion,
constantly indicate the terminal's operating mode and dialing parameters.

Terminal is operating in clear mode.
Handset microphone and speakerphone microphone are
disabled. This allows you to hear the other party, but pre¬
vents them from hearing your conversation.
Terminal is set to operate in voice mode.
