Part Names and Functions

Headset - Headband

The headband is attached to the headset at the time of purchase. Check the following when attaching the product to a helmet.
"Attaching to the helmet and wearing"

Headset - Headband - Part 1

Angle adjustment part (2 axes): Adjusts the angle of the headset.

Camera: Captures images and movies. Remove the protective film before use.

Shades (dark/clear): Complies with ANSI Z87.1. The dark shade shades the product from too much exterior light.
"Using the Shade"

Overhead strap: The headband is supported at the top of the head to improve comfort when it is worn for extended periods.

Cable clip: Secures the cable to the headset.

Ambient light sensor: Senses the brightness of your surroundings and automatically adjusts the brightness of the screen.

Microphones (both sides and the bottom): Captures your voice.

LED indicator:

Headset - Headband - Part 2

Front pad: Supports the headband on your forehead. This can be removed and replaced.

Speakers (both sides): Outputs the audio for the connected device. Adjust the volume on the connected device. If the sound is too low even when the volume is set to maximum, use the volume amplification control feature in the dedicated app (MOVERIO Link/MOVERlO Link Pro) to increase the volume. See the app's tutorial for details.

USB Type-C connector: Connects the dedicated controller (BO-lC400N) or smart device.

Rear pad: Supports the headband at the back of your head.

Interface box: You can use the magnet on the box to attach/detach it.

Adjustment wheel: Adjusts the size of the headband.

Earphone jack: You can connect commercially available CTIA-compliant earphone microphones. Audio is output from the headset speak ers by default. When using an earphone microphone, change the audio output setting in the dedicated app (MOVERIO Link/MOVERlO Link Pro) before use.

warning If the audio is too loud it will be heard by others, so please consider your surround ings when outputting audio.

Wearing the Headset

Attaching to the headband and wearing

Follow the steps below when using the headband.
If you are using a shade, attach it to the headset beforehand.

  1. Secure the cable with the cable clip.

    If necessary, attach the overhead strap. The overhead strap is not required, but it can be more comfortable when wearing the headset for extended periods.
  2. Connect to the dedicated controller (BO-lC400N) or smart device. When using an earphone microphone, connect it to the earphone jack on the interface box.

    When using an earphone microphone, change the audio output setting in the dedicated app (MOVERIO Link/MOVERlO Link Pro) before use.
  3. Place the front pad on your forehead and the rear pad at the back of your head.
  4. Turn the adjustment wheel to adjust the size of the headband.

    If necessary, adjust the length of the overhead strap.
  5. Move the angle adjustment part with both hands to adjust the angle of the headset so that you can see the image.

Make sure that the four corners of the image are visible in one eye and in both eyes.
You can make smooth adjustments by moving the upper axis of the angle adjustment part, and then moving the lower axis.
If necessary, you can adjust the position of the headset by moving the front pad part.
When wearing the headset over glasses, angle the headset outward beforehand to give yourself enough room to make adjustments.

Attaching to the helmet and wearing

Follow the steps below when using a helmet.
You may not be able to attach the product depending on the shape of the helmet. The product cannot be attached to MP type helmets.

  1. Attach the interface box holder to the helmet and adjust it so that the interface box attachment position is at the back of the head.

  2. Adjust the length of the interface box holder with the buckle and attach it securely to the helmet.
  3. Remove the interface box from the headband.
  4. Remove the screws (M3) from the angle adjustment part, and slide the headband toward you to remove it.

  5. Attach the helmet attachment bracket to the headset with the screws (M3).
  6. Turn the adjustment screw on the helmet attachment bracket to securely attach the headset to the helmet.

    Align the adjustment screw with the center of the brim of the helmet, and insert the tip of the brim all the way in to secure it.
  7. Attach the interface box to the interface box holder and secure the cable with the cable clip.

    Make sure the top and bottom of the interface box are correct before attaching it.
  8. Connect to the dedicated controller (BO-lC400N) or smart device. When using an earphone microphone, connect it to the earphone jack on the interface box.

    When using an earphone microphone, change the audio output setting in the dedicated app (MOVERIO Link/MOVERlO Link Pro) before use.
  9. Wear the helmet and adjust the position of the headset by moving the slider on the helmet attachment bracket back and forth.

    When moving the slider, hold the part of the helmet attachment bracket shown in the following figure.

    When wearing the headset over glasses, adjust the slider of the helmet attachment bracket beforehand by shifting it forward to give yourself enough room to make adjustments.
  10. Move the angle adjustment part of the helmet attachment bracket to adjust the headset so that you can see the image.

Wearing over Glasses

The headset can be worn over glasses.

  • Make sure that you do not damage the glasses and the lens of the headset when wearing.
  • You may not be able to wear the headset over glasses that are wider than approximately 144 mm.
  • You may not be able to wear the headset over the glasses depending on the shape of your glasses.

Using the Shade

You can use the magnet on the shade to attach/detach it.

When the shade is unnecessary, leave it flipped up.

If you are using an Android device, you can adjust the head-set's screen brightness and other features with the dedicated app.

BT-45C: Install the "MOVERIO Link" app on your smart device using Google Play.

The following outlines the main features of the dedicated app.

  • Adjust the brightness of the headset screen
  • Power saving mode (on the connected device side and the headset)
  • Screen lock (to prevent accidental operations)
  • Display distance
  • Set the audio output destination for the headset
  • Volume amplification control for headset speakers

This may not be available depending on the version of the app you are using.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Headset

  • If you can see marks in the image or if the image is hazy, check that there is no dirt, dust, or fingerprints on the lenses. If there is dust or dirt on the lenses, wipe them carefully with the included cloth for cleaning glasses.

warning When wiping the lenses, do not use lens cleaning liquids or organic solvents.

  • If the camera is dirty, wipe it carefully with a soft cloth.
  • If any parts other than the lens or camera are dirty, wipe them with a wet tissue.

Storing the Headset

  • When storing the headset, place it in the dedicated carrying case.
  • When placing the headset, make sure it is placed horizontally so that it does not touch against hard objects. If the headset is placed with the lens facing down and the lens touches hard objects, the lens could be damaged.

Cleaning the Connector ports

  • If the connectors on the interface box are dirty or if there are foreign objects stuck to them, they may not work correctly. Wipe away any dirt with a dry cloth or cotton swab at least once every three months.

  • Do not damage the connector ports with your finger or a hard object.
  • Do not expose the connector ports to water. When cleaning the connector ports, use a dry cloth or a cotton swab.

Replacing the Front Pad

  • Remove the front pad from the headband and rep ace it.

Troubleshooting

Has a malfunction occurred? If you think a malfunction has occurred, check the following.

No image is displayed

  • Check if any cables are disconnected.
  • If movies are not displayed when you use a USB Type-C connection, check that the connected equipment supports movie output via USB Type-C. This product supports DisplayPort Alternate mode (DP ALT mode) for USB Type-C.

Images are fuzzy

  • Reconnect the USB-C cable.
  • Restart the connected equipment.

Cannot hear audio

  • Check that the audio output setting in the dedicated app (MOVERIO LinkUMOVERIO Link Pro) is correct.
  • Check that the earphones are connected securely.
  • Check that the volume is set correctly.
  • Check that audio is being output from the connected equipment.
  • You may not be able to use it depending on the type of standard earphone microphone you are using such as earphone microphones with a switch.

Compass is not accurate

  • If the compass is inaccurate for apps that use the headset's geomagnetic sensor, you can correct it by moving the headset in a figure-eight motion while the smart device or dedicated controller is connected.

Usage environment and condition precautions

  • Only use this product at the stated power-supply voltage.
  • For your own safety, unplug the products cable from the smart device or the dedicated controller when not using this product The insulation may deteriorate, which may result in electric shock, fire, or malfunction.
  • When plugging in or unplugging the USB Type-C connector, do not apply excessive force such as pulling on the cord, and make sure you plug the connector straight into the connector port. If the connection is incomplete or incorrect, it could result in fire, burns, electric shock, and so on.
  • Do not leave this product in locations subject to temperatures beyond the specified operating range, such as cars with the windows closed, in direct sunlight, or in front of air-conditioning or heater outlets. Product usage precautions

  • The headset, headband, shade, interface box, and interface box holder use powerful magnets. For your own safety, do not use this product if you have a pacemaker or other implantable device.
  • For your own safety, observe the following points when using this product by connecting it to a smart device or the dedicated controller.
    • It is prohibited by laws and regulations to view the product's screen, the smart device, or the dedicated controller while driving a car, riding a motor bike or bicycle.
    • Observe the safety precautions, use precautions, and all other safety precautions provided with the smart device or the dedicated controller.

Note the following points when using headset speakers or earphone microphones.

  • Do not start using this product at a high volume. Doing so may result in hearing impairment.
  • Lower the volume before turning off the product, and gradually increase the volume after turning on the product. To prevent possible hearing damage, do not listen at high volume for prolonged periods of time.
  • Using the headset speaker volume amplification feature provided by MOVERIO Link/MOVERlO Link Pro and listening for prolonged periods at a volume that exceeds the recommended level may result in hearing impairment.
  • Do not allow any conductive foreign objects to touch the USB Type-C connector or the earphone jack, and do not put any conductive foreign objects into the connection ports. Doing so may cause a short circuit and result in fire or electric shock.
  • Do not allow solvents such as alcohol, benzene, or thinner to touch the product. Also, do not clean this product with a wet cloth or solvents. Doing so may warp or crack the product housing and may result in electric shock, malfunction, or fire.
  • The product housing should only be opened by qualified service personnel. Also, do not disassemble or remodel the product (including consumable items). Many of the parts inside the product carry a high voltage and could cause fire, electric shock accident, or poisoning.
  • Do not subject the lens of the product to strong shocks or knock it against hard objects. If the lens is damaged, it could splinter and cause serious injuries to the eyes and face.
  • Do not throw the product into a fire and do not heat the product. Do not place objects with open flames, such as candles, on this product. Doing so may result in heat, fire, or explosion.

<When using this product for medical purposes>

  1. This product is not certified as a medical device as defined by acts regarding medical products and medical devices It can be used as an auxiliary monitor for the main monitor attached to medical devices, but do not use it for surgery or when determining diagnostic images that require high reliability.
  2. This product has not been certified by the IEC60601-1 standard. When this product is incorporated into a medical system, the entire system must conform to the standard requirements.


Viewing image precautions

  • Do not wear this product while driving a car, riding a motor bike or bicycle, or performing any other dangerous tasks. Doing so may result in accident or injury.
  • Do not use this product in unstable locations such as stairs or at altitude. Also, do not use this product while walking in dangerous locations such as near machinery or equipment that might get caught on the cables, where there is a lot of traffic, or where it is dark. Doing so may result in accident or injury.
  • When walking while viewing images on the product, be aware of your surroundings. If you are too focused on the image, it could result in accidents, falling down, or colliding with other people.
  • When viewing in dark locations, it is difficult to see your surroundings due to the brightness of the image. Be aware of your surroundings.
  • When using this product in small locations, be aware of your surroundings.
  • When wearing this product, do not look directly at the sun or other light sources even if you are using the shade. This could cause serious injury to your eyes or loss of eyesight.
  • Make sure the cable does not catch on anything in the surrounding area while wearing the product. Also, make sure the cable does not wind around your neck. Doing so may result in accident or injury.
  • Make sure the cable does not get damaged. Otherwise, it may result in fire or electric shock.
    • Do not damage the cable.
    • Do not place heavy objects on top of the cable.
    • Do not bend, twist, or pull the cable with excessive force.
    • Keep the power cable away from hot electrical appliances.


Product abnormality precautions

In the following situations, unplug the power supply cable, and contact your local dealer or the Epson service call center. Continuing to use under these conditions may result in fire or electric shock. Do not try to repair this product yourself.

  • If you see smoke, or notice any strange odors or noises.
  • If any water, beverages, or foreign objects get into the product.
  • If the product was dropped or the case was damaged.


Usage environment and condition precautions

  • Do not place the product in locations subjected to vibrations or shocks.
  • While using the product to view images, play games, or listen to music, make sure you confirm the safety of your surroundings and do not leave any fragile items in your immediate vicinity. The images you are viewing may cause you to move your body involuntarily, resulting in damage to nearby items or personal injury.
  • Do not place this product near high-voltage lines or magnetized items. Doing so may result in breakdown, malfunction, or failure.
  • When performing maintenance, make sure you unplug the power supply cable and disconnect all wires. Otherwise, it may result in electric shock.


Product usage precautions

  • Since the headset, headband, shade, interface box, and interface box holder use powerful magnets, be sure to note the following points.
    • Do not touch the magnet directly to bare skin. Doing so could cause skin irritation to occur.
    • Do not place it near items that are affected by magnetism such as smart devices, magnetic cards, compasses, watches, and so on.
    • Remove any metallic foreign objects and so on that stick to the magnet of the headset and shade before use.
  • Stop using this product if the skin that touches the product (face and so on) feels itchy when wearing the product, or any unusual rashes occur, and consult your local dermatologist.
  • If you sweat while using the product, wipe the sweat from your face and the product. Continuing to use under these conditions may result in itching or a rash.
  • For your own safety, do not use a conversion adapter or extension cable.
  • Failure to comply with these precautions could result in fire, burns, electric shock, or damage to the product due to incorrect wiring.
  • Dispose of this product in accordance with your local laws and regulations.


Viewing image precautions

  • Always take periodic breaks when viewing images using this product. Long periods of viewing images may result in eye fatigue. If you feel fatigued or uncomfortable even after taking a break, stop viewing immediately.
  • Do not drop this product or treat it with unnecessary force. Also, if the product breaks due to an impact such as a fall, stop using the product. Damage to the product may result in injury.
  • When wearing this product, be aware of the edges. Also, do not place your finger between the moving parts of this product. Doing so may result in injury.
  • Make sure you are wearing this product correctly. Incorrect usage could make you feel nauseous.
  • This product should only be used as stated in the manuals. Doing so may result in injury.
  • If a problem or malfunction occurs, stop using this product immediately. Continuing to use this product may result in injury or could make you feel nauseous.
  • Stop using this product if you notice any abnormalities such as itchiness, rashes, or eczema on the skin that touches the product, and consult your local dermatologist. Sometimes allergies may occur due to the coating or material of the product.
  • North America and Latin America: This product must not be used by children under the age of thirteen as their eyesight is still developing. If a child of fourteen years or older uses the product, make sure they are supervised at all times and that they do not wear the product for extend ed periods. Pay close attention to the child's physical condition and make sure they are not suffering from eye strain.
  • Other regions: This product must not be used by children under the age of seven as their eyesight is still developing.
    If a child of seven years or older uses the product, make sure they are supervised at all times and that they do not wear the product for extended periods. Pay close attention to the child's physical condition and make sure they are not suffering from eye strain.
  • Do not use this product if you are sensitive to light, or feel nauseous. Doing so may aggravate your pre-existing conditions.
  • Do not use this product if you have any eye conditions. Doing so may aggravate the symptoms such as strabismus, amblyopia, or anisometropia.
  • It is the customers responsibility to check in advance that the product can be used in the environment in which the customer wishes to use the product.


Warning regarding ANSI standards

  • To meet ANSI standards, the shade must be installed correctly and it must be secured in the correct position.
  • Conformance to ANSI standards does not guarantee that the product will protect your eyes from all foreign objects and prevent all injuries.
  • When using this product, make sure that there are no issues such as the strength of the shade and headset attachments, scratches, cracks, breakage, or deformation of the lens surface.

Notes on Usage

This product uses an Si-OLED (Organic EL Panel) for the display panel. Due to the general characteristic of the Si-OLED, you may notice burn-in (afterimages) or decreasing luminance on the panel. This is not a malfunction.

To reduce burn-in and decreasing luminance, do the following.

  • Turn off the headset display when it is not in use. We recommend using the MOVERIO Link/MOVERlO Link Pro in power-saving mode (default). (You can download MOVERIO Link for smart devices from Google Play.)
  • Do not display the same image for a long time.
  • Hide markers or text that always appear in the same position.
  • Do not brighten the screen more than necessary.

Be sure to consider other people when using this product in public locations.

  • This product operates using the battery of the connected smart device or dedicated controller (hereinafter, known collectively as "the connected device"). While using it, pay attention to the amount of charge remaining in the connected device.
  • The BT-45C does not come with a dedicated controller. Make sure that your smart device supports USB Type-C DisplayPort Alternate Mode. We cannot guarantee that any device can connect.
