Encrypting FTP Transfer Data

You can encrypt passwords and files using SSL/TLS for secure FTP communication. First, open a shared folder's
settings and click Edit; under "LAN Protocol Support", check "FTP" and click OK. Enable SSL security in the setup
screen for your FTP client. The procedure depends on the FTP client software.

SSL Encryption

SSL is a cryptographic protocol for communication security and data confidentiality over the Internet. To use
SSL, you will need a certificate and a key. These are available from web hosting services and many private privacy
providers.
Configuring SSL
To enter or update a server certificate and private key for SSL, following this procedure.

Navigate to Management - SSL.

Enter or browse to the locations of the key and certificate, then click Import.

UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply)

If a UPS (sold separately) is attached, the LinkStation can be automatically shut down for protecting data in the
event of a power outage.

Plug the power cable of the UPS to a wall socket.

Connect the AC cable of the LinkStation to the UPS.
