quently while tightening the bolts to make sure the crank-
shaft continues to turn freely.
10. Install the pistons and cylinders as described in this
chapter.
11. Install the oil pump as described in this chapter.
12. Install the coolant pump as described in Chapter
Eight.
13. Install the flywheel and stator coil assembly as de-
scribed in Chapter Six.
14. Install all engine mounts onto the crankcase. Refer to
Figure 11.
15. If so equipped, install the electric starter as described
in Chapter Six.
16. Install the engine in the frame as described in this
chapter.
COOLANT PUMP AND OIL INJECTION PUMP
DRIVE SHAFT
Shaft Removal
Refer to Figure 78 for this procedure. The shaft can be
removed without separating the crankcase halves, but the
bearing on the oil pump end of the shaft will remain in the
crankcase. Service is usually accomplished in conjunction
with crankshaft or crankcase service.
For complete service of the shaft assenlbly, proceed as
follows.

1. Remove the lower crankcase half as described in this
chapter.
(1, Figure 78).
2. Remove the circlip
3. Push the oil pump shaft (3, Figure 78) and bearing (2)
out toward the coolant pump side of the crankcase half.
4. Remove the bearing (4, Figure 78).
5. Inspect the shaft, gear and bearings. If the gear is darn-
aged, also inspect the drive gear on the crankshaft (Figure
64).
6. Reverse the disassembly procedure to install the shaft
components.
