Selecting the cutting action
► Fig.3: 1. Lever
This tool can be operated with an orbital or a straight
line cutting action.
To change the cutting action, turn the lever to the
desired cutting action position. Refer to the table to
select the appropriate cutting action.

NOTE: Orbital action means that the saw blade
moves up and down, and back and forth at the same
time. This increases the efficiency of cutting.
Speed adjusting dial

The strokes per minute can be adjusted just by turning
the speed adjusting dial. This can be done even while
the tool is running. The dial is marked 1 (lowest speed)
to 5 (full speed). Turn the speed adjusting dial between
1 and 5 according to your work.
Refer to the table to select the proper speed for the
workpiece to be cut. However, the appropriate appli-
cation may differ with the shape and hardness of the
workpiece. In general, orbital cutting action is suitable
for soft materials.
NOTE: Orbital cutting action is suitable for most soft
materials such as wood, however, sometimes not,
according to the shape or the hardness of the work-
piece, etc.

NOTE: If the tool is operated continuously at low
speeds for a long period of time, the operation life of
the motor will be reduced.
NOTE: The speed adjusting dial can be turned only
as far as 5 and back to 1. Do not force it past 5 or 1,
or the speed adjusting function may no longer work.
Switch action
CAUTION:
Before installing the battery car-
tridge into the tool, always check to see that the
switch trigger actuates properly and returns to
the "OFF" position when released.
CAUTION:
When not operating the tool,
depress the lock-off button from A side to lock the
switch trigger in the OFF position.

To prevent the switch trigger from accidentally pulled,
the lock-off button is provided.
To start the tool, depress the lock-off button from B side
and pull the switch trigger.
Tool speed is increased by increasing pressure on the
switch trigger. Release the switch trigger to stop. After
use, always press in the lock-off button from A side.
Lighting up the front lamp

CAUTION:
Do not look in the light or see the
source of light directly.
Pull the switch trigger to light up the lamp. The lamp
keeps on lighting while the switch trigger is being pulled.
The lamp goes out approximately 10 seconds after
releasing the switch trigger.
NOTE: Use a dry cloth to wipe the dirt off the lens of
the lamp. Be careful not to scratch the lens of lamp, or
it may lower the illumination.
NOTE: When the tool is overheated, the lamp blinks
for one minute. In this case, cool down the tool before
another operation.
Adjusting the shoe
WARNING:
Always remove the battery car-
tridge and the recipro saw blade when removing
or adjusting the shoe.
CAUTION:
Always install the shoe and make
sure that the shoe touches the workpiece before
operating the tool.
CAUTION:
Always make sure that the shoe
is adjusted in proper position so that the reci-
pro saw blade does not touch the tool during
operation.
