Sensepoint Plus, Sensepoint Pro, Series 3000 XPIS and Sensepoint XCD Duct Mounting Kit
A gas detector calibrated at 0.3l/m in static air will read high at elevated flow rates. This is a
'fail safe' effect that naturally occurs in duct applications. Elevated flow rates effectively
We recommend that the external inlet to the duct mounted unit (when mounted in a duct)
be used for 'bump' test purposes only i.e. to give indication that unit is working and reactive
to gas. An elevated flow rate of 5l/m should be used where air flow in the duct is in
Detectors should be calibrated in 'still' air at 0.3l/m either via the duct mounting kit inlet
(i.e. in situ) OR via the calibration cup (remove unit from duct) whichever is the more
convenient. For details of calibration procedures refer to the Sensepoint Plus manual
(SPPLMAN), Sensepoint Pro manual (SPPRMAN), Series 3000XPIS manual (S3KMAN) or
Sensepoint XCD manual (SPXCDHMANEN) as appropriate.
The Duct Mounting Kit is used when fitting a Sensepoint Plus, Sensepoint Pro, Series 3000 XPIS or
Sensepoint XCD gas detector to a duct (Part No.: 'SPPPDM' is for Sensepoint Plus and Sensepoint
Pro, 'S3KDMK' is for Series 3000 XPIS, 'SPXCDDMK' is for Sensepoint XCD).
The duct mounting kit is only suitable for use in applications for the detection of Flammable,
Carbon Monoxide, Hydrogen Sulphide and Hydrogen gases.
It comes as a pre-assembled kit, fitted to a supplied sample part-duct.
Notes
The installation procedure describes one way of installing the detector and duct kit
components in a target duct without interior access, i.e. from the exterior only.
Experience with other types of target duct installations may allow modification of the
procedures given.
The target duct must be of square or rectangular cross-section with a maximum duct
wall thickness = 1 mm (0.04in.).
The installation procedure consists of 3 parts:
assembling duct components
assembling detector components
mounting the detector assembly to the duct assembly
Refer to the Sensepoint Plus, Sensepoint Pro, Series 3000 XPIS or Sensepoint XCD manuals for
electrical installation, operating and maintenance instructions.
Remove all the kit component parts from the sample part-duct before starting the installation
procedure.
Note how the components are assembled together. Put the part-duct to one side.
Warning
make the detector more sensitive.
excess of 1500ft/min.
