14 Battery Pack

Before Use
When the BP-L60/L60A or BP-L90/L90A battery pack (both sold separately) is mounted,
the recorder can also be used even where there is no external AC or DC power supply.
When using an extension unit or an option board, use BP-L90/L90A.
Be sure to charge the lithium-ion rechargeable battery before use.
Before charging with the dedicated battery charger BC-L100 (sold separately), be sure to
read the charger's instruction manual.
Battery life
Battery packs that only last for a short time after they have been charged have reached the
end of their useful life. Replace it with a new battery pack.
When not using
• Remove the battery pack from the unit and store it in a dry and well-ventilated location.
• When the battery pack will not be used for a long time, discharge the battery pack before
storing.

WARNING
• Only use the dedicated charger.
• Do not leave the battery near a fire or throw it into a fire.
• Do not short the battery (connect the positive and negative terminals with a wire, etc.).
• Do not allow the battery to become wet.
• Do not apply strong shock to or drop the battery.
• Do not change the shape, modify, or disassemble the battery.
• If leakage from the battery gets in your eyes, wash your eyes with clean water and see
a doctor immediately.

CAUTION
• Do not remove the battery's outer jacket or otherwise damage the battery.
• Do not use the battery with others of different kinds, ratings, or brands.
• Do not charge longer than the specified.
• Do not use the battery in case of battery deformation, leakage, discoloration or when
other abnormalities are found.
• If leakage from the battery sticks to you skin or clothes, wash it off with clean water.
Note
Used batteries are to be recycled. Stick insulation tape on the terminals of used
batteries and take them to a store handling recycling products or to a Sony Precision
Technology outlet.
