G500 Substation Gateway,
NOTE:
The defadmin user will be deleted automatically once nominated administrator-level user is created.
The root user is available to recover the new administrator password.
Task 3: Set the IP Address
The Network IP address for G500 is set to front maintenance port and rear ports.
Setting IP address for Front Network Maintenance port
1.
At the G500 #>> prompt, type 'sudo mcpcfg' and press Enter.
2.
Enter the defadmin user password and press Enter.
Password: defadmin
3.
Enter 3. Configure Network Interface > 2. Static IP Address.
4.
Type the IP address of the G500 and press Enter. The default Subnet Mask as desired.
5.
Navigate to the main menu and exit.
6.
Enter 21. Reboot Device.
Setting IP address for Rear Network ports
1.
At the G500 #>> prompt, type 'sudo mcpcfg' and press Enter.
2.
Enter the defadmin user password and press Enter.
Password: defadmin
3.
Enter 3. Configure Network Interface.
4.
Select the network interfaces 2. Net1-Net2 or 3. Net3-Net4 or 4. Net5-Net6.
5.
Choose the network mode 1. Single or 2. Redundant or 3.PRP.
6.
Respond to the on-screen prompts as required.
7.
Enter 2. Static IP Address.
8.
Type the IP address of the G500 and press Enter. The default Subnet Mask as desired.
9.
Navigate to the main menu and exit.
10. Enter 21. Reboot Device.
Task 4: Change the Root Password
The root user is the G500 super user and has all privileges including the ability to recover the administrator user in the event the
password is ever lost. The root user cannot be removed, so for security reasons it is required to change the root password using
the following procedure.
1.
At the G500 #>> prompt, type 'sudo mcpcfg' and press Enter.
2.
Enter the defadmin user password and press Enter.
Password: defadmin
3.
Enter 1. Configure Authentication > 3. Root Administrator Settings > 1. Change Root Password.
4.
Follow the instructions to enter a new password for the root user.
Task 5: Download existing G500 Configuration
Follow the below steps to download the G500 project in DS Agile Studio
1.
Launch the DS Agile MCP Studio
2.
Connect to the G500 from the front ethernet port (default: 192.168.168.81)

The root user's password should be defined and securely stored by the system administrator; This
is crucial information. No method is available for recovery outside the factory.
