16. Data communications between
two Organizers
This function is used to transfer data in the memory of one Organizer
to another Organizer, such as the IQ-7000 or ZQ-Series Organizer.
The optional data transfer cable, CE-200UCE-300L, is required for
this transfer.
Data transfer can be performed for data in the SCHEDULE, TEL,
MEMO, DO LIST, or EXPENSE mode.
Data cannot be transferred from the Anniversary mode or the User
Dictionary mode.
To transfer data to an EL-Series Organizer or Auto Dialer featuring
data transfer, use the optional data transfer cable CE-220T for con-
nection.
For example, data in the telephone directory can be transferred.
If the second Organizer does not support the mode from
which data in the first Organizer is to be transferred, data
transfer will not be performed. For example, if the IQ-701A IC
card is not installed in the IQ-7000, the data from the DO
LIST or EXPENSE mode will not be transferred.
1. Turn the power off on both units.
2. Push the covers up to reveal the 4-pin option jack of both units.
3. Connect the data transfer cable to the 4-pin option jacks.
The cable connector is equipped with a projection (guide key) to
indicate its connection position. When connecting it to the 4-pin option
jack, make sure the guide key is always positioned to the &&.
Improper connection may cause the data stored in the Organizer to
be lost.
When options such as the data transfer cable are not connected to

the Organizers, make sure to replace the covers down over the
During transfer, no keys except /ONI can operate. Pressing m
l
interrupts the transfer.
Press SHIFT
The ' UNIT TO UNIT" menu lists the following functions:
Used either to send the data item on the display to the
receiving unit, or to send all of the data from the mode
being transferred to the receiving unit.
Select " 2 RECEIVE" for receiving unit and "1 SEND"
for the sending unit.
Used to load the data item on the display into the
receiving unit, or to load all of the data in the mode
transferred from the sending unit to the receiving unit.
Select " 2 RECEIVE" for the receiving unit and "1
SEND" for the sending unit.
VERIFY:
Used to verify the data item displayed by the sending
unit or to verify all of the data sent in the pertrnent
mode.
Select " 3 VERIFY" for the receiving unit and "1 SEND"
for the sending unit. Either unit can be used as the
receiving unit.
The data in the Do List and Expense records cannot
be verified.
The TELI, TEL2, and TEL3 directories are treated as different

modes.
Designate the receiving unit first and then the sending unit,

Transferring one item of data
Display the data you wish to transfer, and transfer it with the
" SEND" and " RECEIVE" functions. When data is transferred, it will
be appended to the data in the receiving unit.
Transferring all the data in one operation mode
Recall the initial display in the mode you would like to transfer
(in the SCHEDULE mode recall the date input display by
pressing =I twice) and select the " SEND" and " RECEIVE"
functions.
Caution:
The data previously stored in the specified mode in the receiving
unit will be lost.
During data transfer, secret data (coded with " X" ) is also trans-
ferred. But, if the secret function is ON, an error will occur.
For example, to transfer " New Blueprint" in the DO LIST mode:
1. Display the item on the sending unit.

(Press repeatedly until
" New Blueprint" appears.)
2. Display the " UNIT TO UNIT" menu on the receiving unit.
Select the same modes for both units (in this instance, DO LIST).
Data cannot be transferred between units operating in different
modes. " DATA ERROR" will appear on the receiving unit if this is
attempted.
When transferring telephone directory data, any of the TELl,
When schedule data is transferred to a ZQ-2000 series
schedule alarm times are automatically set to the schedule starting
times.
3. Display the " UNIT TO UNIT" menu on the sending unit.
