Objects in the breathing system can stop gas flow to the patien
t.
Th is can cause
injury or death:
Do not use a test plug that is small enough to fall into the breathing system.
1. Verify thatAGSS is operating. For systems that have a flow indicator on the side
,
make sure that the flow indicator shows a flow in the green (normal) region.
2. Zero the pressure gauge (Section 5.6.1).
Check Valves
3. Make sure that the check valves on the breathing circuit module work correctly:
a. Th e Inspiratory check valve rises during inspiration and falls at the
sta 比 of
expiration.
b. Th e
Ex
piratory check valve rises during expiration and falls at the start of
inspiration.
Ventllator Bellows
4. Ventilator bellows tes

a. Setthe system switch to Standby.
b. Set the Ba g/ Vent switch to Ventilator.
c. Set all flow controls to minimum.
d. Close the breathing circuit at the patient connection. Use the test plug located
on the side ofthe ABS.
e. Push the O
2
flush button to fill the bellows.
f. Th e pressure must not increase to more than 15 cm H
2
0 on the pressure gauge.
g. Ifthe bellows falls more than 100 m

b. Follow the menu structure outline below to reach the adjustment for the
inspiratory flow valve. Select and confirm at each step.

c. Follow the instructions on the screen.
d. The leak rate should be less than 200 m
