Will my Recorder still work without the riVo Service?
• Without the TiVo Service, your Recorder will have extremely limited functionality.
The TiVo Service is required for proper operation of the Recorder. The Recorder
uses the program data provided by the Service to record the shows you request, to
provide Season Passes. to power the Live TV Guide, to allow you to search for
programs by name, and so on. The TiVo Service also provides you with new
Network Showcases, and TiVolution Magazine. Lastly, the Service keeps your
TiVo software updated to make sure you have all the latest functionality you will
want in the future.
When do I get program data from the TiVo Service?
• Your Recorder downloads program data from the TiVo Service via your phone line
once a day, at a time when you are not using your phone.

Does the TiVo Service phone caU each day cost me any money?
• Calling the TiVo Service from your local dial-in number is the same as making a
local telephone cal1.
What if I need to make a caU while the Recorder is using the phone?
• When you pick up the phone, the Recorder will interrupt the download process and
free the phone line for your call. The Recorder will attempt its call again later.
