Phase 4 – Completing the Installation
PHASE 0 – Run Diagnostics (Optional)
Once the NetServer hardware is installed, boot the system from the DiagTools
Diskette that was created from the Startup CD to run the hardware diagnostic and
to save/view the hardware inventory.
PHASE 1 – Create Boot Diskettes
1. You need four blanked, formatted diskettes. Label them as listed below:
Windows 2000 Setup Boot.
Windows 2000 Setup Disk #2.
Windows 2000 Setup Disk #3.
Windows 2000 Setup Disk#4
2. Place the Windows 2000 CD on a system running Windows NT or
Windows 95.
3. Open a command prompt and change to the d:\bootdisk directory assuming
that D: is your CD-ROM.
4. At the command prompt type:
makebt a:
(If using a DOS or Win 9X system)
makebt32 a:
(If using an NT system)
5. Follow the instructions provided by the utility on the display.
PHASE 2 – Installing Windows 2000 from Diskette
1. Boot from the "Windows 2000 Setup Boot" diskette. Follow instructions
provided on the display to replace the diskette.
PHASE 3 – Installing Windows 2000 – Booting from CD-ROM.
1. Place the Windows 2000 CD-ROM in the drive. Power off and on to
reboot system. The system displays "Setup is inspecting your hardware
configuration.". Next, it will then switch to a blue screen.
2. If you have new drivers to add then press F6 to add OEM SCSI, DAC.
Read the message that shows at the bottom of the display indicating when
to press F6.
3. Press Enter to continue at the "Windows 2000 Server Setup. Setup
Notification..." screen.
