2. Features

This chapter describes the features and specifications of the
DRM-5004X CD-ROM Jukebox, the DR-D504X CD-ROM Reader and
the DR-R504X CD-R Writer.

2.1 Features of the DRM-5004X CD-ROM Jukebox

The Pioneer DRM-5004X is a CD-ROM jukebox for CD-ROM and
CD-DA compact discs (12 cm/5-inch). Discs that are 8 cm (3-inch)
cannot be used.
• The DRM-5004X can accommodate up to 500 CD-ROM and
CD-DA compact discs (12 cm).
• The DRM-5004X comes with disc magazines that allow
installation/removal of discs in units of 100.
• The basic configuration of the DRM-5004X often includes two
4X speed Pioneer CD-ROM readers (the DR-D504X).
• The DRM-5004X can accommodate any combination of up to
four Pioneer CD-ROM readers (DR-D504X) or Pioneer CD-R
writers (DR-R504X).
• The changer controller and the built-in CD-ROM drive are
connected by a SCSI daisy-chain.
• The DRM-5004X Jukebox has a flash memory for easy
firmware upgrade via software.
NOTE: Drives can also be connected on independent SCSI buses.
2.1.1 Disc Types
The DRM-5004X has the capacity to hold and manipulate up to 500
12 cm/5 inch CD-ROM discs that meet the Yellow Book specifications
for CD-ROM discs. In addition, the changer can also use: 12 cm/5
inch CD-ROM XA discs (extended architecture discs - System
Description CD-ROM XA Standard), CD-DA discs (digital audio discs -
Red Book Standard) and CD-R discs (Orange Book Standard.)
