Two Radio Base Station/Repeater

2.2.1
System Description
The Customer:
Large Cement works
the site manager wishes to extend the simple radio to radio system used by the security
contractors to provide communications for other groups of employees (eg. lorry drivers,
safety team, management, production supervisors, etc.).
The Customer Requirement:
Communications are required between mobile and portable radio users as well as
desktop console operators in three different offices.
Four major groups of employees have been identified. Conversations should be limited
within these groups to eliminate distractions from overhearing unnecessary calls.
Large sheds on the plant cause a coverage black spot for existing security firm's radio
to radio calls. Coverage for the site system should extend into this area.
Licensing requirements stipulate that the repeater functionality cannot be free-running.
Proposed Solution:
A 5 tone, VHF system will be employed to support the four separate groups.
A base station/repeater will be located at remote antenna site on top of silo building to
provide coverage across the entire site.
Communication between office workers and site wide radio operators will be provided
by linking three Motorola Centro Plus desktop consoles in parallel to the remote base
station
The base station/repeater will consist of a Motorola ENLN4055 housing kit containing
an ENLN4056 module and two Motorola GM350 mobile radios.
A wireline connection will be installed between the remote site and the Centro Plus
desktop control consoles
During normal working hours, the repeater function (ie Set-Up and Knock-Down) will
be controlled by the Centro Plus consoles. After hours, RAT tones will be necessary to
access the repeater (the security radios will be capable of generating RAT tones to
enable the repeater at anytime, even when Knocked-Down).
As an additional customer benefit, the wildcard outputs will be used to switch on
floodlights on top of the silo in the event of an emergency, controlled by the console
operators.
