Console Commands are a series of Function Tones (FT) originated by the control console in
response to button presses by the console operator.
The TRICK supports the following TRC commands originated by the control console(s);
MONITOR: when the MONITOR command is received from the wireline, the off-hook signal to
the RX radio is toggled. The monitor signal remains active until a TRANSMIT/CHANNEL
command is received from the wireline. Depending upon the programming of the radio, the
monitor signal normally opens the audio path from the radio, regardless of the presence of
carrier or PL.
REPEATER SET-UP: if configured as a repeater, the REPEATER SET-UP command will
cause the TRICK to enter the Set-Up mode of operation.
REPEATER KNOCK DOWN: if configured as a repeater, the REPEATER KNOCK DOWN
command will cause the TRICK to enter the Knocked Down mode of operation.
REPEATER ENABLE: if configured as a repeater, the REPEATER ENABLE command will
cause the TRICK to become Enabled (ie. cause the transmitter to key up).
TRANSMIT/CHANNEL SELECTION: when a TRANSMIT/CHANNEL SELECTION command
is received from the console, the TRICK instructs the radio(s) to change to the selected
channel before keying the TX radio. The TX radio remains keyed for the duration of the LLGT
(plus any Hang Time).
WILDCARD COMMANDS: the TRICK provides two open-collector outputs for general
purpose use. These outputs are provided on the TRICK accessory connector
(see the Installation and Programming Guide or Chapter 1 of the Service Manual for details of
pin-outs). The wildcard commands supported by the TRICK are;
WC1 ON
WC1 OFF
WC2 ON
WC2 OFF
The Function Tone (FT) frequencies assigned to each command are fully programmable via the
RSS. It is of course essential that the FT frequencies programmed into the TRICK match those
programmed into the control console.
Status Reports are sent to the wireline by the TRICK to report changes in operational status. This is
necessary to maintain synchronization between the wireline console(s) and the remote TRICK.
If enabled via the RSS, the TRICK will send the following reports to the wireline;
CHANNEL: this report informs the console of the current active repeater/base station
channel. This report is sent once after the TRICK has reset.
REPEATER SET-UP: this report informs the console that the repeater has been Set-Up by an
over-air control signal or a local control button press.
REPEATER KNOCKED-DOWN: this report informs the console that the repeater has been
Knocked-Down by an over-air control signal, a local control button press or expiry of the
Repeater Knock-Down Timer.
Acknowledgment, If enabled using the RSS, is sent to the wireline by the TRICK in response to a
command received from the console(s). The Function Tone assigned to the Acknowledgment is
defined using the RSS.
