Important information regarding configuration control

Operating principle
Configuration control enables you to configure the installation of a controller and to operate
versions (options) that differ from this configuration.
A control data record you have programmed in the startup program notifies the CPU as to
which modules are missing in the real installation as compared to the configuration or which
modules are located on a different slot as compared to the configuration. The configuration
control does not have an impact on the parameter assignment of the modules.
Configuration control gives you the flexibility to vary the central installation as long as the
real configuration can be derived from the set maximum configuration.
Below you will find a description of how to activate configuration control (CPU parameter
assignment) and how to structure the required data record.
Requirement
● STEP 7 Professional Version V13 or higher
● CPU S7-15XX as of firmware version V1.5
● Recommendation: Before you load a new program with a modified control data record,

perform a memory reset. This action will prevent errors that occur if an incompatible
control data record is present.
