2 Troubleshooting

2.1 Troubleshooting Procedure

2.1.1 E400/E712 Indicator

1) Turn off and on the power switch. Is the problem corrected?
YES: End. (Check the wiring between the host copier's DC controller

2) Set the meter to the 200 VDC range, and connect the + probe to J2-

DADF controller PCB
3) Try replacing the DADF controller PCB. Is the problem corrected?
YES: End.
NO:

2.1.2 E401 Indicator

Pickup roller sensor (S5)
1) Set the meter to the 20 VDC range, and connect the + probe to J5-1
NO:
Pickup motor (M1)
2) Set the meter to the 200 VDC range, and connect the + probe to
YES: Check the wiring from the pickup motor (M1) to the DADF con-
NO:

and the DADF controller PCB.)
6 and the - probe to J2-4 of the DADF controller PCB. Is the volt-
age about 24 V?
Check the wiring for the power supplied by the host copier.
Replace the host copier's DC controller PCB.
and the - probe to J5-2 of the DADF controller PCB.
Turn the flag (light-blocking plate) mounted on the pickup roller
shaft by hand. Does the voltage change to about 5 V when the flag
is over the sensor and about 0.15 V otherwise?
Check the wiring from the pickup roller sensor (S5) to the DADF
controller PCB; if normal, replace the pickup roller sensor (S5).
J12-1 and the - probe to J12-2 of the DADF controller PCB. Does
the index of the meterindicate about 22 V in response to a press on
the Start key?
troller PCB; if normal, replace the pickup motor (M1).
Replace the DADF controller PCB.
