Important Refer to your engine operator's manual for additional maintenance procedures.
If you leave the key in the ignition switch, someone could accidently start the engine and
seriously injure you or other bystanders.
Remove the key from the ignition and disconnect the wire(s) from the spark plug(s) before you
do any maintenance. Set the wire(s) aside so that it does not accidentally contact the spark
plug(s).

Engine Oil

Service Interval/Specification
Change the oil:
After the first 5 operating hours
After every 50 operating hours
Note: Change the oil every 25 hours when operating the
engine under heavy load or in high temperatures.
Oil Type: Detergent oil (API service SF, SG, or SH)
Crankcase Capacity: 1.9 liters (64 oz.)
Maintenance Procedure
Replace the oil filter.
Replace the paper air cleaner.
Perform all of the maintenance procedures listed above.
Check the belts for wear or cracks.
Drain the gasoline.
Paint chipped surfaces.
Charge the battery and disconnect the cables.
Replace the fuel filter.
Replace the spark plug.

Checking the Oil Level
1. Park the machine on a level surface, disengage the PTO,
set the parking brake, stop the engine, and remove the
ignition key.
2. Open the hood.
3. Clean around the oil dipstick (Fig. 18) so dirt cannot
fall into the filler hole and damage the engine.
