In Service Operation
6.4 Modes of Operation
NOTE
i
i
The following conditions must be considered for the optimization algorithm:
If the calculated operating time is less than the boot up time as shown in the
Figure
6-2, then the optimization is not effective.
If the battery is low, then the calculated boot up time is increased and the optimization is not effec-
tive.
When the relay is started with the load current and the fault current appears within 25 AC cycles, then
the operating time is less than the calculated time.
Siemens recommends keeping the Time Multiplier setting > 0.1.
If the fault current is not stable during the boot up time, then optimization of the operating time is not
effective.
NOTE
i
i
To the final operating time:
add absolute time tolerance of ±100 ms and relative time tolerance of ±5 % (whichever is greater)
add absolute current tolerance of ±20 mA and relative current tolerance of ±3 % (whichever is
greater).

USB

6.4.4
In the USB mode, you can edit all the settings even if the protection functions are inactive. The binary inputs
and binary outputs are operational in the USB mode. In the USB mode, the local flag indicator, binary output
and LED reset is possible. The pulse output and remote flag output cannot be operated with USB.

Battery

6.4.5
The 7SR45 Argus relay has 2 batteries: a main battery CR123A and a coin cell RTC battery CR1632. This section
is applicable to the main battery CR123A, 3 V 1400 mAh Li non-rechargeable battery . The battery is used to
energize the device when auxiliary voltage or phase current or USB are not available. You can perform actions
such as viewing the fault records, setting change, and resetting the flags with battery power.
The relay can be powered on by the battery only if all other power sources are not available.
In the battery mode, the relay can be energized by pressing the BAT ON/OFF key or if any binary input status is
changed.
The battery is used to operate the 7SR45 Argus Relay only when other power sources are not available.
In the battery mode:
You can edit all the settings even if the protection functions are inactive.
The binary inputs and binary outputs are operational.
The local flag indicator reset is possible.
The pulse output and remote flag output cannot be operated in battery mode.
If no keys are pressed for 60 s, then the relay goes in to sleep mode automatically.
By default in the battery mode, if the backlight is off, then the battery/relay can be turned on by pressing the
backlight key.
Battery Profile
The battery profile menu provides the overview of the consumption of battery power of the different applica-
tion modules.
