Starting Problems (continued)
Problem
The engine cranks, but does not start.
The engine cranks slowly.

Possible Cause
The fuel shut-off valve is closed.
The fuel tank is empty.
The engine and/or fuel can be too cold.
The fuel filter is plugged.
The impulse fuel pump is not
functioning.
The fuse F2 (10 A) is damaged.
The fuel solenoid is damaged.
An engine ignition system component
(including the spark plugs) is faulty.
Diode D2 is faulty.
The interlock relay #1 is faulty.
The key switch is faulty.
The battery is discharged.
The battery cables are loose, corroded,
or damaged.
The engine and/or fuel can be too cold.

Corrective Action
Open the fuel shut-off valve.
Fill the fuel tank.
Move the machine to a heated
environment and allow the engine and
fuel to warm.
Check the fuel filter and replace if
necessary.
Inspect the impulse fuel pump hoses
and replace if necessary.
Test the impulse fuel pump and replace
if necessary.
Test the fuse and replace if necessary.
Test the fuel solenoid and replace if
necessary.
Test the engine ignition system
components.
Test the diode and replace if necessary.
Test the relay and replace if necessary.
Test the key switch and replace if
necessary.
Charge and test the battery or replace
if necessary.
Clean the battery terminals (posts).
Clean the terminals at the ends of the
battery cables.
Inspect the battery cables and repair or
replace them if necessary.
Move the machine to a heated
environment and allow the engine and
fuel to warm.
