52 - Commissioning and Start-up
Prior to start, check that the connections are tight and there is no leakage in the system. After
running the machine for some time, the cooling system should be checked. Verify that the
cooling fluid, where applicable, and air is circulating without any obstruction.
Check that the brushes on the slip rings are not sparking.
The shutdown of the machine depends on the application, but main guidelines are:
Reduce the load of the driven equipment, if applicable
Open the main breaker
Switch possible anti condensation heaters on, if not automatically done by switch gear
On water cooled machines, switch off the cooling water flow to avoid condensation inside
the machine.
