4.3 Installation notes for acoustic emission sensors

Mounting the device
1. Screw the three screws through the mounting holes to mount the device. The position of
the mounting holes and the mounting dimensions in millimeters are indicated on the rear
of the housing.
2. Mount the device preferably at a right angle with the cable gland pointing downward.

You will need the enclosed hexagon socket-head screw M6x16 and the locating pin ∅ 3x10
for installation of the acoustic emission sensor.
Install each acoustic emission sensor individually at the pump housing or the valve housing.
Install the acoustic emission sensor close to the valve that is to be monitored.
There is a good acoustic coupling if no elastic elements such as seals or similar are located
between the sensor and the valve, which means there are good ferrous connections.
As the acoustic emission is injected into the sensors via their base, the substrate on the
housing must be uniformly even and smooth, and at least as large as the sensor base. Use
viscous lubricating grease to improve the coupling. This lubricating grease is not supplied
with the device.
Note
Installation
Install the acoustic emission sensor so that the distance to the valves is more or less the
same.
The following applies to pumps with good acoustic coupling between discharge side and
intake side:
A single acoustic emission sensor may be all that is required for the entire pump or a pump
head with two valves.
