3.1 Power grid
Function modules for the power grid
When operating a generating unit connected to a power grid, a power utility company can
specify grid codes. Software functions are required to fulfill the requirements resulting from
grid codes. These are defined in function modules, and must be explicitly activated.
The following function modules of the Active Line Module are typically required to satisfy the
requirements arising from grid codes:
● Line transformer function module (Page 34)
● Function module, dynamic grid support (Page 40)
If a specific grid code does not have to be complied with, then it is not necessary to enable
the "Dynamic grid support" function module. This can apply to battery energy storage
systems, if they do not represent power generating units.
