Bluetooth USB adapter

Only the Bluetooth USB adapter included in the scope
of delivery provides a radio link with the BEA 060. It is
plugged in at the PC/Laptop. Readiness for operation is
indicated by the flashing blue LED.
!
It is not possible to operate any other items of Blue-
tooth hardware fitted or plugged into the PC/Laptop,
as this would interfere with data communication
between the BEA 060 and the PC/Laptop.
!
Do not subject the Bluetooth USB adapter connec-
ted to the Laptop to mechanical strain or use it as a
handle, as this could damage the Laptop or Bluetoo-
th USB adapter.
i
The USB connection has precedence in the case of
simultaneous USB and Bluetooth connection.

Functional description

The BEA 060 is used to measure the exhaust gas com-
ponents CO, HC, CO
, O

ted). The excess air factor (Lambda) is calculated on
the basis of the gas values measured.
The non-dispersive infrared method (NDIR – non-disper-
sive infrared spectroscopy) is employed for measuring
the CO, CO
and HC components. The oxygen is deter-
2
mined using a sensor with electro-chemical action.

Mode of operation

Warm-up time
The BEA 060 warm-up time is approx. 1 minute.
Measurements cannot be taken during this period.
Zero calibration at the start of exhaust gas
measurement
After switching on the pump, the zero point of the
analysis system is automatically calibrated (duration
30 seconds) with ambient air (zero gas).
Zero calibration during exhaust gas measurement
Following the start of exhaust gas measurement, the
BEA 060 automatically implements a system check with
ambient air at irregular intervals (the oxygen measure-
ment drift is monitored and re-adjusted if necessary).
To perform the system check, the BEA 060 switches
a solenoid valve to ambient air. The system is flushed
with zero gas for 30 seconds. An activated charcoal
filter removes the hydrocarbons from the ambient air
drawn in.
