3.1.3 Preparing a Win95 PC

Step
Install and configure Dial-Up Networking
1.
Add Dial-Up Networking under Network Neighborhood > Add > Network
Adapter >
Microsoft > Dial-Up Adapter
Bind TCP/IP protocol to Dial-Up Adapter under TCP/IP > Dial-Up Adapter
>Properties Bindings>
Deactivate "no WINS"
Do not bind other protocols (IPX or NetBEUI) to the Dial-Up Adapter

Install and configure Script Manager (SLIP protocol)
Control Panel >
Software >
Windows Setup >
On the Win95 CD, go to directory: Admin\Apptools\Dscript, and click OK.
Activate "SLIP/script support for Dial-Up Networking" and click OK
3.
Add modem
My Computer > Control Panel >
Under Add Modems, activate "Don't detect my modem; I will select it from
a list". Click Next >
(Standard Modem Types) >
Standard 9600 bps Modem > Next
Select COM port
4.
Configure Dial-Up Networking Connection to Hicom 150 E Office
My Computer >
Dial-Up Networking >
Create New Connection >
Select "Standard 9600 bps Modem" >
Next, select a Com port (connection to Hicom 150 E Office) >
and specify the name of the connection, e.g. "SLIP to HLB". The modem
is normally correctly configured (1 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit). Under
"Advanced", select: Hardware (RTS/CTS).
Properties of the new connection: "SLIP to HLB". Telephone number, e.g.
"1". Do not use country and area code. Under Server >
Type of Dial-Up Server>
"SLIP - UNIX connection": do not log onto network; define only the TCP/IP
protocol and the IP address using 1.0.0.2 as the default gateway in the
remote network
5.
Install Assistant HiPath HG 1500.
6.
Under Options > Administratable HiPath HG 1500 Cards > HiPath HG
1500 Cards, enter a name and an IP address.
