Greetings, I **** repairing a Sportman gen 2000 120 volt electric generator and it turns on but the energy that comes out of the receptacle is 8 volts and not 120 as it should be. I checked the mass of the stator and rotor with the voltmeter and it is good. I put a bridge rectifier and a new capacitor of the same model and it still does not generate the voltage of 120 volts. If you can help and guide me I would appreciate it. I will send you a video of the generator. Thank you.

Possible causes of low output voltage (8V) from the Sportsman GEN2000LP generator instead of 120V could include:

1. Generator Overload – If the total connected load exceeds the generator's rated capacity (1350 running watts), it may not supply the correct voltage. Reducing the load could resolve the issue.
2. Short in Connected Devices – A faulty or short-circuited electrical device could cause abnormal voltage output. Disconnect all devices and test the generator without any load.
3. Loose Wiring Harness Connection – Loose wiring behind the control panel or at the generator output can affect voltage. Turn off the generator and check for loose connections, tightening them if necessary.
4. Dirty Air Filter – A clogged air filter may reduce engine performance, affecting power generation. Cleaning or replacing the air filter may help.
5. Low Engine Speed – If the engine is not running at the correct speed, the generator may not produce the expected voltage. Checking for issues such as low fuel, dirty spark plug, or incorrect choke position could help.

If the problem persists after checking these factors, further inspection by a qualified technician may be required.
