mode. The latch will open and the indicator lamp will flash.
3.

This mode may be useful if you have purchased SureFlap
has been microchipped or while your cat is getting used the presence of their
new cat flap (see trouble shooting guide).

12. Maintenance

The sensor that detects the presence of a cat in the tunnel is optical and is
situated on the inside roof of the tunnel, close to the flap. The position of the
sensor is shown in figure 28. If these lenses become obscured by dirt then
unreliable operation and/or shortened battery lifetime may result. Wipe these
lenses with a damp cloth every couple of months.
Operation of the sensor relies on a reflection from the base of the tunnel,
which should also be kept reasonably clean.
TM
After cleaning, leave SureFlap
for approximately 10s for the unit to settle
before normal operation returns.

No, you do not need to reprogram the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap after replacing the batteries. The memory retains stored microchip codes even when the batteries are removed.

My SureFlap has stopped working. It is not reading my cats microchip. I have changed the batteries & done a reset as per instruction manual. The light flashes when it has been reset but goes out when cat enters but still doesn't work. It has been installed for aprox 7yrs. Can you help please?

The SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap may not be reading your cat's microchip because the memory was accidentally reset when replacing the batteries. If the small button next to the battery compartment was pressed during battery replacement, the stored microchip data would be erased. In this case, you need to reprogram the cat flap to recognize your cat's microchip again.

@Mr. Anderson As explained it stopped working so I changed the batteries, presented my microchipped cat while the light flashed and it didn't work. I then reset the flap and the red light flashed, I then presented my cat again , the light stopped flashing but still did not operate. Is there anything else I can try?
