Warning: Only use your hands to remove the battery. Do not use an object such as a coin or knife, as either can damage both the phone and the battery.

    Important: Your phone is powered by a rechargeable battery. Use only batteries approved by Nokia and recharge your battery only with the chargers approved by Nokia. Never use any charger or battery which is damaged. The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times but it will eventually wear out.

    The phone book 6 The phone book One of the most useful features in the Nokia 6340 is its powerful Phone book. You can store up to 500 names and their associated web, e-mail, and street addresses within the Phone book. Each name, or entry as it is called, has room for up to 5 numbers of various types and 4 text entries.

  • Page 38 Mobile Home Work Important: If you plan on using Nokia PC Sync to synchronize your phone book and your PC’s PIM (Personal Information Manager) application, make sure all phone numbers are assigned the correct number type. PC Sync uses this information to synchronize contacts correctly between phone and PC.

    • VOICE RECORDER The Nokia 6340 can record both voice memos and phone conversations. The total of all recordings stored in your phone cannot exceed 3 minutes. If you are running out of memory and try to record, you are asked to erase a recording before proceeding.

    Advanced features The memo begins playing, and a progress bar appears in the display indicating the amount of play time left. If necessary, adjust the volume using the side volume key. PLAY BACK A MEMO WHILE IN A CALL You can play back a memo while in a call. All participants in the call can then hear the memo as it is played back.

The display language, ringing tones, audio, and accessory settings (among others) can all be modified to suit your needs. Now, it is even possible to use a TTY or TDD device with your phone in all modes of operation (analogue or digital).

    Manage phone security 11 Manage phone security You can lock your keypad, restrict selective calls, and use security codes to secure your phone against accidental or unauthorized use. Important: It is possible to place an emergency call with the keypad locked.

    Manage phone security 4 Enter the new security code again and press OK. A message appears in the display confirming your security code has been changed. The PIN code The PIN code protects the SIM card from unauthorized access. The PIN code can be 4 - 8 digits in length.
  • Page 81 The PIN2 Code The PIN2 code is required for features such as Fixed dialing. If you enter an incorrect PIN2 code three times in succession, the PIN2 code is blocked and you will have to enter the PUK2 code. Note: The original PIN2 code must be obtained from your wireless provider.

    Messages 12 Messages If you have subscribed to a message service, you can send and receive messages to compatible phones that also have a message service. You can also send and receive picture messages and e-mail if supported by your network.

It also has a calculator that can easily convert domestic and foreign currency, plus a new feature called Wallet for storing personal information.
