Customizing Ink Settings

In the Appearance tab you can control ink width and color:
• To customize the width of the ink stroke, select a size, then tap OK.
• To customize the color of the ink, select Change Color, then select a color box, then
tap OK.
Select another tab, or tap OK to return to your document.

Timeout

From the Timeout tab there are two kinds of timeout you can control: Recognition
Timeout and Selection Timeout.
Recognition Timeout
Sometimes, particularly as a new user, when you write a multistroke character (a
character made up of more than one stroke, such as an "A"), Handwriter might
interpret each stroke as a separate character:
This occurs when the recognition timeout is set faster than you write. Handwriter
interpreted what you wrote before you finished all the strokes.
As you gain more experience with Handwriter, you can reset this feature to improve
the response time.
Selection Timeout
When you pen down Handwriter will try to take the ink and recognize it. If you need
to select something or drag and drop an item you must hold the pen down a certain
amount of time without moving so Handwriter knows you do not want recognition.
Move this slider until you select a time you feel comfortable with.

Customizing Recognition

Select the Advanced tab to customize character recognition and start the Macro
Editor and Trainer:
• To turn the spell checker on or off, select the box next to Enable Recognition
Dictionary.
• The spell checker uses a dictionary that favors the recognition of real words. For
example, if you write "fovr", Handwriter recognizes it as "four".
