8 Installing Microsoft Windows Server
2003
This chapter is a supplement to the HP Server tc2120 Network Operating System
Installation Guide (HP part number 312977-001) that came with your server and
provides instructions for installing Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (formerly
known as "Windows .NET").

High Level Process Flow

Perform Windows Server 2003 Server Installation.
Completing the Installation (HP drivers, Recovery Console).
Configure the System.
Configure the Network.
Additional HP accessories.

Prepare the Installation

Please refer to the Chapter 1 "Preparing your HP Server tc2120 for your NOS
installation" for our recommendations on server preparation.
Then gather the following material:
HP Server tc2120 Startup CD
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 CD-ROM.
Up to three blank, formatted 3.5-inch diskettes
Two or more clients for testing purpose (Optional)
NOTE
1. Remo ve any installed SCSI HBA cards from the PCI slots.
Disable SCSI Support Before Using ATA RAID Controller if
present. Due to system resource limitations, the Promise
FastTrak100 TX2 IDE RAID controller is not compatible with
systems having SCSI capabilities. (The ATA and SCSI
functionality cannot operate simultaneously). You must
disable SCSI support in Setup before you can use the RAID
controller. To disable SCSI support, follow these steps:

This is helpful if you are setting up multiple systems. Digital signatures are a powerful way to ensure system integrity as you add drivers to your systems - whether provided by HP or others.

You can enter RC: Either by booting from Windows Server 2003 CD-ROM Or by installing the RC boot on your system. It is recommended to install the RC immediately after installing Windows Server 2003.
