4.2.2 Raise the Disc Transporter
To install additional drives, the disc transporter must be moved up
and out of the way, so the disc clamper assembly can be reached and
removed to expose the drive bays. The disc transporter can be raised
through software commands from a host computer, through test mode
or by manually moving it. Here are instructions for raising the trans-
porter using Test Mode or raising it manually:
A. Raise the Disc Transporter by using Test Mode.
Refer to Figure 4-7, Using Test Mode to Raise the Disc Transporter
Example: Raise the Disc Transporter to disc location 401.
1. Power OFF and ON the unit so that the disc transporter
returns to its default position at the lower center of the unit.
2. Place the door bypass jig in the door lock to allow the unit to
enter Test Mode. Call Service for information.
3. Enter test mode by pressing the top left button marked TM on
the inside front panel. Hold the TM button for five seconds
or until Ò00-xxxÓ appears on the display.
4. Instruct the changer mechanism to move the disc transporter
to address 401. Enter Mode 4, Step Operation, by pressing
the button second from the top on the left hand side 4
times. In Test Mode, this button is labeled MD+. See
Figure 4-7. Refer to the buttons used to set modes, and
submodes in Test Mode.
4. When the unit enters Mode 4, submode 0 will be selected.
5. In Mode 4, submode 0, press S1 four times, press S2 zero times
and press S3 one time. The number Ò401Ó will be displayed
in the last three digits of the LED. See Figure 4-7.
6. Press S4 to move the disc transporter to location 401 (top left
disc in bottom magazine).
NOTE: The disc transporter can also be raised through software
commands from a host computer.
NOTE: The steps outlined above need to be followed when removing a
drive to replace it with another, or to leave a drive bay empty.
