Connection options for the fail-safe digital inputs

Requirement
Unexpected movements due to long connecting cables
If a connection cable at a failsafe digital input is too long, then overvoltages can damage the
failsafe digital input. It is possible that a damaged failsafe digital input can no longer detect the
signals of the connected sensor. This may impair the functional safety of the machine or the
system and therefore endanger people or lead to material damage.
• Use a surge protection device for cable lengths > 30 m.
