PLAYBACK
Playback of one or both sides of a cassette
Press TAPE.
Insert the cassette in DECK 1 or 2.
Set the tape cycle switch to —= or C.
a is a Dolby NR cassette, set DOLBY NR to
N.
e Press > or 4 to start playback.
—- The LED above the button selected lights up.
— When the direction of play is changed, the LED
above the other PLAY button lights up.
- At the end of the cycle the tape stops. The LED
goes out.
e Press lf if you want to stop playback before the
end of the cycle.
Continuous playback of the cassette
e Press TAPE.
e Insert the cassette in DECK 1 or 2.
e Set the tape cycle switch to C_).
e If itis a Dolby NR cassette, set DOLBY NR to
ON
e Press > or < to start playback.
- The LED above the button selected lights up.
- You hear in turn the two sides of the cassette.
- The direction of play is always indicated by the
LED lit above the PLAY button.
¢ Press m if you want to stop playback.
Note: You can also playback a cassette continu-
ously in two decks. The whole of the two cas-
settes is then played in turn.
REPEATING A TRACK
¢ Before the track has ended, press the PLAY but-
ton with the lit LED.
- The LED starts to flash.
— At the end of the track the tape is rewound and
you hear the track again.
Note: This facility does not work if there is a
pause of less than 4 seconds between the tracks,
the pause has too high a noise level or the track
has quiet passages or too low a recording volume.
SEARCHING FOR A PASSAGE
Winding forwards while the cassette is playing
— If the tape is winding in the > direction and you
press PF, the tape is fast forwarded to the
next track,
- The same thing happens if the tape is winding in
the <4 direction and you press <4.
Rewinding while the cassette is playing
— If the tape is winding in the > direction and you
press <<, the tape is fast reversed to the start
of the track currently playing.
~ The same happens if the tape is winding in the
< direction and you press >.
Notes:
- During fast winding, the LED above the PLAY
button flashes. This stops when playback is re-
sumed.
— This facility does not work if there is a pause of
less than 4 seconds between the tracks, the
pause has too high a noise level or the track has
quiet passages or too low a recording volume.
Winding while the cassette is not playing
¢ Press >
to fast forward the tape.
e Press << to fast reverse the tape.
Fast winding stops if you press >, < or Mf and at
the start or end of the tape.
USE OF THE TIMER
The timer offers the following facilities:
— Switching the unit off after a certain time when
going to sleep (slumber switch).
— Switching on and off at a certain time.
— Switching off and switching on again after a cer-
tain time when
used as an alarm
(repeated
alarm signal).
— Automatic radio recording.
If you make a mistake when selecting the facilities
or setting the times, press CANCEL on the TIMER
panel and start again.
SETTING THE SLUMBER SWITCH
— The slumber switch must be set while the unit
is playing.
— At the factory the slumber time is set at 60 min-
utes. You can confirm or change this to any time
required between 1 and 99 minutes.
—- The switch does not work with a sound source
connected to the AUX input!
e Press PROGRAM.
— TIMER appears on the display and A, B, SLEEP
and SNOOZE flash.
Press SLEEP.
The display shows TIMER, SLEEP and 60.
Press ADJUST.
60 starts to flash.
e Using the digit buttons, enter the required slum-
ber time.
- This flashes on the display.
e Press ADJUST again to confirm.
— The time disappears from the display.
¢ Press PROGRAM to store the time.
— The normal time indication reappears.
¢ Press SLEEP to switch on the slumber switch.
~ SLEEP appears on the display.
— After the slumber time has elapsed, the unit
switches off.
Notes:
— The slumber time set remains stored in the
memory. You can activate it again by pressing
SLEEP.
- To check the slumber time, press PROGRAM
and SLEEP; it then appears on the display. Then
press PROGRAM twice.
-~ You can switch off the slumber switch by press-
ing SLEEP;
SLEEP then disappears from the
display.
