1.0 Product Overview and Applications

1.1 Introduction

This manual describes the MDS TransNEXT ™. The TransNEXT is the successor to the MDS
TransNET™ 900 MHz unlicensed radio. Setting the standard for reliable, long-range wireless serial data
transmission utilizing proven Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) technology, the next
generation TransNEXT is backwards-compatible with its predecessor, TransNET. The TransNEXT' s
backwards compatibility enables the continued use of legacy serial networks while also adding new
capabilities to migrate networks with secure Ethernet connectivity.

About This Manual

This manual is intended for systems engineers, network administrators and others responsible for
planning, commissioning, installing, using and troubleshooting the wireless system. Electronic copies of

commands, keyboard entries, or other information displayed on a PC screen, a bolded font is used
