„ Fault and Warning Messages

The messages are listed below along with potential causes and remedial actions.
† Fault Messages
A fault will prevent the SmartDate from printing and enable the fault output. Once a fault is
activated, printing cannot restart until all faults are cleared.
If the suggested corrective action is not successful or if faults are persistent, contact Markem-
Imaje or your approved Markem-Imaje distributor.

1001 Printer Power Supply Fault
1002 Printer Hardware Fault
1003 Controller Hardware Fault
1004 Printhead Detect Failure
1005 Software Fault
1006 Software Assertion
1009 Printer orientation not set
1010 Printer connected to incompatible
controller
1011 Power Supply Interrupted
1012 Unsupported printer
1013 Unknown Printhead
1014 Print Sequence Lock Up
1015 Washdown Substrate Check
Possible Cause
Connection between Controller and Printer is
missing or has failed
Power supply components have failed
A fault in the printer has been detected
A fault in the controller hardware has been
detected
A fault in the printhead has been detected
A fault in the controller software has been
detected
A fault in the controller software has been
detected
The Printer orientation must be set before
printing can be started
The printer/controller are incompatible. For
example a SmartDate X45 Controller has been
connected to a SmartDate X65 Printer
A momentary power supply fault has been
detected
The firmware in the Controller is not compatible
with the Printer Hardware
An incompatible or faulty printhead has been
detected in the printer
The Printer has locked up
Message displayed after the completion of the
washdown procedure

Corrective Action
Check presence and condition of
interconnecting cable and replace if
necessary
Replace Controller
Replace Printer
Replace Controller
Replace printhead
Power cycle the controller
Power cycle the controller
Set the Printer orientation and retry
Connect the correct Controller for the

Power cycle the controller
Contact Markem-Imaje or your approved
