HOW TO USE THE BUILT-IN
BIT-CORDER
There is no need for troublesome connection between the recorder
and computer with the built-in bit-corder.
Saving and loading of various MSX Basic programs, data files and
Personal Data Bank data can be made on a single cassette tape. Each
program or data file can be easily found afterwards by inserting a
blank of more than 4 seconds between each program or data file.
CASSETTE INSERTION
1 Open the cassette holder.
2 Insert a cassette with the desired side, A or B, towards you. Before
inserting a cassette, take up any slack in the tape to prevent it from
becoming tangled around the capstan.
3 Close the cassette holder completely.
TO SAVE A PROGRAM
CAUTION
When the bit-corder functions in save mode, the erase head automati¬
cally erases any previously recorded material.
Before saving a program, make sure that the cassette tape to be used
does not have material that should not be erased.
Tape counter and reset button
The tape counter provides a numerical reference point while saving
which can be used to index a cassette. Press the tape counter reset
button before saving, to reset the counter to "000". After saving, make
a note of the figure on the tape counter.
TO VERIFY A PROGRAM
It is important to verify the program immediately after it has been
saved. The verification procedure checks to see that the program is
saved correctly onto the tape by comparing the program saved with
that presently stored in the computer.

Insert the cassette and press the ►► (or ◄◄) button to locate the
beginning of the program.
2 Depress the ► button.
3 Type the load command of MSX-BASIC from the keyboard.
CLOAD? "program name"
The program name must be the same as that used in saving.
4 Press the Jjkey. The tape begins to run. When the program is found
on the cassette, the following message is displayed:
Found: program name.
The verification operation begins when the program is found.
5 When verification is completed, the tape automatically stops and
the verification result is displayed on the screen. Press the ■
button to release the ► button.
When the message "OK" is displayed, the program has been pro¬
perly saved.
When the message "Device I/O error" or "Verify error" is displayed,
save the program once again.

Insert a cassette into the bit-corder.
Depress the • button.
The LOAD/SAVE/OPERATION indicator lights up in red but the tape
does not run. No level adjustment is required.
Type the save command of MSX-BASIC from the keyboard.
CSAVE "program name"
Define the program name within six characters. The first character
jst be an alphabetic character,

hen the entire program is saved, the tape automatically stops,

If the message "Found" is not displayed, rewind the tape and attempt
to verify the program again.
