TROUBLESHOOTING
S-8 Oil consumption is excessive
(or exhaust smoke is blue)
a Do not run the engine at idling for more than 20
minutes continuously. (Both low and high idling)
General causes why oil consumption is excessive
Abnormal combustion of oil
External leakage of oil
Wear of lubrication system
Confirm recent repair history
Degree of use of machine
Oil consumption suddenly increased
Engine oil must be added more frequently
Engine oil becomes contaminated quickly
Exhaust smoke is blue under light load
Amount of blow-by gas
Area around engine is dirty with oil
There is oil in engine cooling water
When exhaust pipe is removed, inside is found to be dirty with oil
When turbocharger air supply pipe is removed, inside is
found to be dirty with oil
Oil level in clutch or TORQFLOW transmission damper
chamber rises
Clamps for intake system are loose
When compression pressure is measured, it is found to be low
When breather element is inspected, it is found to be
clogged with dirty oil
There is external leakage of oil from engine
Pressure-tightness test of oil cooler shows there is leakage
Excessive play of turbocharger shaft
Inspect rear seal directly
When intake manifold is removed, dust is found inside
When intake manifold is removed, inside is found to be
dirty with oil
